Driver's Door switch is not recognized by the vehicle's electronics

There is a green wire you must check the connection for to the MICU which is behind the left kick panel, if okay it sounds like the MICU or driver's door module-door multiplex control unit (window switch) might be out. Here are the wiring diagrams for the door locks and open warning system so you can see how the system works. I CAN scan might pick up what the problem is as well. here is a guide to help:

Hi Ken, I'm still struggling with locating the MICU. So, firstly my car is RHD (in South Africa), and while that won’t really matter as the wires are the same colors as those on your diagrams, the challenge is in locating the actual plug in the MICU that is specifically for the door switches. Basically, it seems like the plug is actually behind the entire fuse panel!

As such, the plan would be to remove the three bolts holding the fuse panel and check the rear. Not an easy job though, because all those wires hold the panel pretty rigidly, meaning having to unplug some just to get to the back of the panel. Will keep trying though…

MICU is inside the fuse panel; you must replace the fuse box unit. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find.

Oh… Umm, well okay, I thought a mere resoldering of a wire maybe or some sort of reset would do. Well, if it requires replacing, then I guess removing it isn’t unavoidable. I’ll look into sourcing a replacement unit before removal.

You might be able to take it apart and find the problem, a burnt-up transistor etc.

Yeah, that also is possible. Look, I'll see if I can take it out though. From when I tried over the weekend, it won't be easy. Reinstallation will be even harder to pull off...

At this point, I'm thinking to either live with the problem, or possibly even "swap" the rear Right door switch wire with that of the driver's door. Yes, the MICU will still assume the rear door is open when I actually have the Drivers door open, but at least it's less likely to lock itself again and subsequently lock the car key in the car!!

Oh, and obviously I still need to attempt the iCan Scanner to see if it will pick something up...
