I took the door panel off and found that when you trip the handle a wire goes up and down in the latch but it doesn't trip the lock.then I found a about 6" wire not hooked to anything.the one on the outside handle is hooked, the inside handle does work the lock, but I can't see how to get the outside lock to work the latch.

Yes, this was very helpful it helps me to find the problem this part. I will send a picture of had fallen off and I don't know if I have the keeper ring still. but I don't think the lock cylinder is bad. can I just hook this backup without buying a new part?

Hello again,

That looks like the exterior door handle actuating rod. You should be able to get the clip that holds it in place from the dealership. In the diagrams down below I have included the instruction for the removal and installation of the exterior door handle for you. Again, please go through the guide and report back how everything turns out.

Thanks,
Alex
