After being involved in an accident driver's door will only to a crack

I got into a car accident and damage the front drivers light and now the driver door only opens to a crack. why would that be?

The front edge of the door is hitting on the rear edge of the fender. This is real common. Most people force the door to open, and that causes damage to the door that could usually be avoided. Once the fender is repaired and adjusted, the door will open like normal.
