You we need to do a series of drives with it letting it get hot and then allow to cool down completely to repeat for about 50 miles.

What I have read in California is that any car after 2000 need all monitors set other then the EVAP monitor. All monitors are set but the catalytic converter readiness monitor.

It says fifteen seconds I would think that is what the 15s means. also, below it says times as well. That is from Hyundai it is really confusing actually. I just let my monitors learn natural unless it is some of the European cars I can use my scan tool to do it.

What I do to check and see how good the cat is compare the upstream o2 sensor readings to the downstream readings.See how close they readings are to each other at about 2500 rpms. They should be cleaner than the upstream and the downstream shouldn't be almost mirroring the upstream.

So I ordered the cat for bank 1 but what I have found me out is that the bank 1 cat was replace in 2015 with 130,xxx miles on it. What would cause the cat to fail in under 2 years and 50,xxx miles.

What about bank two ?Isn't that the one that upstream and down stream o2 sensors were almost equal? So why are you ordering bank 1 that you replaced 50k ago ?

It was $300 cheaper to order from a Hyundai dealership in Florida then at my local dealership. Same part number CARB compliant.

Changed the cat out and still getting a p0420. The car feels a lot better with the new cat doesnt feel restricted. Assuming o2 sensors?

That's strange if you changed the cat side where the sensors were reading almost equal because if both sensors went bad they wouldn't be reading close to equal. That code sets when both sensors read close to equal or you have a big exhaust leak between the two sensors

There's nothing in between the 2 sensors. They screw in to the top and bottom of the cat.
