About two weeks ago I started having problems with my car. After filling up gas. It started to running poorly. IAC going crazy, trying to keep engine running, stalls at slower speeds, also loads up with too much gas. hard to start, must hold pedal to rug. Assuming bad gas, tried various cleaners. Today SES light came on. Codes P030 came up. I pulled distributor cap. Noticed the carbon brush at coil bottom was missing. Replaced cap. Runs same. Had Ignition mod tested, it failed. Replaced mod. Cleared codes, and ran it for a bit. Runs the same. P030 came back on.

This code indicates there is a problem with the heated portion of the O2 sensor, bank 1 sensor 1. The problem could be the sensor itself, a bad connection, circuit fuse, or even a bad ECM. I would recommend getting a live scanner so you can see how the sensor reacts while the engine is running.

Thanks for the fast response. I was told P030 is ignition module fault. Is that bad information for sure? I hate trouble shooting these cars. There seems to be so much misinformation, glad I am a carpenter.

LOL I couldn't agree more. Now you're going to scream. Since you mentioned the confusion, I dug deeper into the topic to make sure I was correct. On your vehicle, that is a code for the ISC, Idle speed control motor. My guess is it is bad. Sorry about the confusion. There are too many codes to keep track of. I will promise you it isn't the ignition module. If I'm wrong, we can blame Snap-on. lol
