Door lock replacement

Do you have a picture of the linkage that you are trying disconnect?
Usually linkages are held in position with clips. The rod is pushed into position and the clip turned to lock it in position. You need to turn the locking tab away from the rod to enable you to remove it.

That seems to be true. This is a pain and as usual the easy is now difficult. I have turned the clip and tried to remove it in several positions and it has not pulled free. Here is a picture:

Tried as suggested did not budge. Another idea?

You have it unlatched so it should pull straight out. They have a narrow slot around them that snaps into the retainer and I have seen them where the rod wears into the retainer (yellow clip) and forms a ledge that holds them tight. Use a screwdriver under the arm opposite the retainer and twist it so the far side is pushed up. That will usually tip them enough that they will come free.

I suggest you replace the clip! Looks that the top part of the clip that snaps onto the rod broke off. Would not like to see you put this all back together and later on have the rod pop out.

I will. It went on a trip. Will be doing that when it gets back. I will hopefully be able to pop the rod out at that time.

You will, there is just a light angle on it which holds it in the clip. Use a flat blade screwdriver to pry it out.

It is gone right now. I will do that when it comes home.
