The truck listed above is a 1500 model. The dome light does not work when doors are open or with dash switch.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com.

First, make sure the fuse is good and the bulb is good. If they are, then we need to check wiring. Please keep in mind, power for the light comes via the totally integrated power module (TIPM) which are known to fail. There are many small pins where the plugs are located which are know to corrode and break. Make sure fuse 17 is good under hood and part of the TIPM/power distribution box.

Next, go to the light. Remove the bulb and check for both power and ground. If one is missing, I need you to check a splice. Splice (S311) and ground (G301) need checked.

The ground is located on the left front (body under hood). The splice in the same location. See picture 1.

If the splice is good and you have a good ground, then we need to suspect the switch.

Keep in mind. Power to the light is always active. The light will only turn on when a switch provides a ground. That is either via a door switch or the buttons on the dome light. Since the light does not work at all, I have a feeling the problem is the headlamp switch itself.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have other questions.
