That description sounds like a door latch switch is stuck. The problem is that testing it to find out which switch it is can be a mess. The easy way is to use a scan tool to read the switch positions and then just repair the one that is faulty. The harder way is to remove the center dash panel and find the connector and use a meter or test light to find out which input is stuck. This video shown the location of the GEM and it's removal (different model but GEM is in the same location).

Then you find connector C280 and the correct pins.

Then you use either a voltmeter or test light to find out which of the inputs is shorted to ground. Then you can remove the door panel(s) to get to the latch and test the switches there to find out if it's a stuck switch or if the wire to the switch is grounded.
