1988 Dodge Van check enginge light and sputter

Electrical problem
1988 Dodge Van V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Van recently began to sputter around 35m*hr.

Check engine light now comes on and stays on until I shut off engine and restart, eventually comes on again.

Otherwise it runs great

Welcome to the forum, how long since a tune-up? Did you check for trouble codes? You may be able to get some codes, by cycling the ignition switch, on--off, on-- off, on, you cyle key till dash lites come on, no further. The check engine lite starts flashing, you count the flashes to get the codes. These are two digit codes, a code code 24 would be two quick flashes, a slight pause, then four quick flashes. If multiple codes, the pause between codes is a little longer.
