'97 Grand Voyager Ticks...

I have a 1997 Plymoth Grand Voyager...the mileage is about 205,000 miles. Automatic Trans. 6 Cyl. 2 Wheel Drive. The problems I am having are...

1.) The motor ticks as though it is low on oil, but the oil is fine. There are no warning lights. It drives fine. No over heating. BUT, the ticking is getting louder. What is causing this ticking? It ticks, hot or cold...as soon as you start it up...until you turn it off. :x

2.) I have an oil leak and a transmission leak. It's time for an oil change, so I can probably get that taken care of right away. But how costly is it to find and repair a transmission leak???

Hi there, if the sound isn't a knocking but a ticking sound as you describe then that could be caused by valve lifter(s) that are going bad. Over time the lifters get clogged with crud or gunk typical on a high mileage engine. I would not worry about it it will not damage the engine it is only an annoyance and could be questioned with a potential buyer. I would recommend Marvel Mystery Oil or any other similar additives to oil/gasoline. Or go Synthetic oil for a couple thousand miles that may do the trick. If not this repair would cost you more than what you may want to pay for.
