Are the threads in the jam nut right or left handed that is located directly behind the fan clutch

Turn counter clockwise to remove. If you are removing the fan clutch, the best way I found it to leave the belt on, jam the pulley as best you can, place the wrench over the nut and smack it about 4 or 5 times with a dead blow hammar. It will come loose.
