Engine Mechanical problem
1988 Dodge Truck V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic
I recently rebuilt my 1988 dodge 360 engine. I accidentaly torqued the main bearing caps to 105 ft. lbs. instead of the specified 85 ft.lbs. I did not turn the crank, and realized the mistake within a few minutes, backed them off to finger tight and re-torqued them to the proper 85 lbs. should I replace the bearings, or should they be alright. I had the crank turned .010 under before the build, and plan to use the truck as a daily driver with occasional towing. I used the clevite 77 bearings, stock compression ratio, and automatic trans. I do four wheel drive offroad occasionally. thanks, steve.
