very low gas mileage

2001 dodge stratus, 93,000 miles:
I used to drive 400 miles on a tank of gas. 3 months ago it went down to 320. and it seems over nite I am lucky to get 160 mile on 1 tank! I have no clue what to do. some suggest a simple tune up. i don't want to spend money fixing whats not broke. thanks for your help.

I would start by checking the air filter. clogged filter will cause lost mileage. Tune-up can't hurt either.

i think more of maintainence ....obd2 or 96' n up car usually skip tune up.....maintainence is part of owning a car thats more than 30 k miles & more....if the wear & tear items already sub-standard n u have problems underneath...can ur mechanic charge more for extra obstacles???... i don't wanna pay taxes neither....wish & needs are 2 different thing....
