2005 Dodge Stratus noise while turning

My car has started to make a squeeking/grinding noise while turning the wheel. I checked steering fluid and the level is good. The wheel movement is not hindered, the steering seems to be okay. I'm concerned with the noise and what needs attention.

I would start by checking the front brake pads. If they are good, check for play in the wheel bearings.
