My S.E.S light came on the other day and the code I received is P0736 Incorrect gear ratio. could a bad c.v. shaft cause this problem, I had no problem with the trans prior to this, but I did have an accident last year and I think I damage the C.V. shaft on the driver side. Also while driving when I 'm driving at 35mph and accelerate to 40mph my streeing wheel shake then once I go above 40mph it stop. Are all of these problems related to a faulty C.V. shaft.

The fault code is not related to the half shaft, but the vibration could be. Worn inner cv joint housings can cause the rollers to bind as they try to roll back and forth to change length and angle as the suspension travels up and down. The vibration is most noticeable at lower speeds and when accelerating. In my experience, the problem has been caused by the inner joint on the passenger side most of the time.

The gear ratio error has to do with slippage in the transmission or with the programming in the Transmission Computer. This will have to be determined by a mechanic with a hand-held computer that can access the Transmission Computer to reprogram it.
