Noises problem
2000 Dodge Stratus ES Automatic 114,00 miles

have a Dodge Stratus 2000 4 door, with 114k miles on it. Recently the suspension in the back has been making squeaky noises in the back by the passenger side. If the car moves at all it squeaks, if i sit in it, it squeaks.

I took it to a mechanic i know and he told me both rear suspensions would have to be replaced, he gave me with labor and parts an estimate of 330.00.

I haven't looked around yet for another price, but wanted to know if this is a fair estimate, if not what is a fair estimate for it then? also is this really the reason it is squeaking so much?

thanks in advance.

There are several components to the rear suspension. You will need to find out which part specifically (control arm, shock, spring etc...) they said needs replaced so I can give you an accurate estimate. It may be a weak bushing causing the squeeking but most likely if it squeeks that easily (just by sitting in it) then it seems more likely to have weak shocks.

hey thanks for responding,

this is what the estimate says:

suspension strut parts 210

labor 160. (lowers it to 120)

the noise is primarily on the right side rear tire. When i pop open the trunk there's a rubber thing above the wheel well, that when i push down it makes the squeak noise go away until i start driving again and it gets loose.
