1998 Dodge Stratus cam or crank sensor

what is the difference between the two? my daughter started her car and backed out the driveway and it stalled and would not restart. a friend that work on these things said it could be one or the other but doesnt have the time to follow up on it. any suggestions or info would be appreciated. car ran great prior to this.

***I forgot to mention that is also has no spark.

Remove the connector from the cam sensor, does it start? if yes the problem is with the timing, have the belt checked, it may have jumped a tooth...DO NOT drive like this!

Would this work if the car has no spark? I had forgotten to add that to my question. Thanks so much

It could if the timing is the problem, if the cam and crank signals are not in sync, PCM kills spark. If it starts, check timing belt!

Went out and car starts right up but then stalls once it comes up to temp. It restarts after it sits for awhile and then stalls again once it reach temp. Any suggestions? It wont make it up to the parts store for them to put it on a computer.

Right now, even if you have to buy an inexpensive code reader, this is your best option, once you own it, it can read codes from all cars sold in USA from 96 to present! A good investment....we need that code!
One of the sensors that come into play during closed loop is causing a problem....A start stall condition such as this could be the EGR valve, there is a tech bulletin on this car and engine for start and stall involving the EGR, new part available!
