1997 Dodge Stratus gas pedal sticks

If you have cruise control, it is possible the cable came off and is holding the throttle open. Automatic idle speed motor can't raise rpm that high. First, look for a vacuum leak. Friend had a minivan that developed a 1" long missing section in the intake manifold the thickness of the gasket. Van ran 35 mph without touching the gas pedal.

What does the gas pedal feel like when you press it? Normal resistance? Normal length of travel?

If you have cruise control, and nothing else pans out, pull the rubber vacuum hose off the servo and plug it. If idle speed is ok now, we need to figure out if something happened inside the servo or if the engine computer is commanding it on.

where would i locate the part you are talking about to find the hose im not sure on the location on my car i removed the cruise cable could it still be the cruise or can it be something else ...the engine gets really loud when you try and start it like it is floored the cable to the gas looks like it is fine it goes in and out like it should and i was told to unplug the throttle body sensor and if it still floors then it isnt the sensor that is messed up ...what else can be done

Can't be the cruise control servo if the cable is disconnected. Are you sure the throttle is closing completely? Pull the intake air tube off and look inside the throttle body to see if something is holding the throttle blade open.
