dodge stealth 92' clutch prob

i hold down the clutch peddle and try to shift into a gear and it wont go in it would just make a loud grinding noise. the car has 150k ..also when i hold the clutch peddle to the ground i can feel the vibration of the motor and also when i rev it when in neutral the transmission gives off smoke.. please help me.=] thnx...zach

I am sure that several other motors will work in the car. But unless you are a wiring wizard the electrical issue will drive you nuts. Dealing with the computer system and its sensors is a major area of concern. I would either have the engine from the car rebuilt or put in a motor of the same kind and year.

You may find another engine that will work but troubleshooting the problems that crop up will be tough.
