I have a 1992 Dodge Stealth that had 1st gear on the Auto trans go out. Replaced the transmission and the replacement goes in and out of 1st gear and the overdrive doesn't work. Possible computer problem? I know the Stealth is famous for computer problems as they put it right underneath the heater vent @ bottom ofthe center consule. We had the computer refurbished when we first got it as the car wouldn't start and turned out to be the computer. Just wondering if this may be the problem.

Is your check engine light on? If yes turn the key from off to on three times, on the fourth one leave it in the on position, count the flasshes...22 would flash as 2 blinks, then a short puase, then 2 more blinks...if several codes are stored, the pause is longer between codes, code 55 will be the last code...do this and post all codes found...

The Check Engine Lilght never came on, so I guess it eliminates that? If the TOC is the problem, would it cause the Ck eng. light to come on? Is the TOC a possible problem, or did I just get unlucky with the used transmission I bought for a replacement. The transmission shop (very qualified) I brought the car to for the tranny swap said, it is the transmission that is bad, plantetary gears on the original went out he said, and not sure what's wrong with the replacement. Going to have it rebuilt. But, I just wanted to cover all angles as it seems there are alot of different problems with the Stealth transmission.

Well...if an onsite shop thinks it's the tranny, it probably is.
