2007 Dodge Sprinter Brakes & Glow-plugs

2007 Dodge Sprinter Two Wheel Drive Automatic 55,000 miles

My 3.0 liter diesel has a bad glow-plug. The tech wants to replace the expensive "module" as well. Is this neccessary?
Also, I am replacing the disc brake pads. I am unfamiliar with the guide bolts on this van. What tool is required to release the front and rear guide bolts?

Glow plugs are controlled by the ECM, if it's bad you should see the check engine light. If the glow plugs are tested with a 12 volt source, they will be damaged because they operate at 4.4 volts. I would try replacing just the glow plugs, and test the wiring harness. as for the brakes, Not sure but most larger and newer stuff is torx(star) T60. But going by the picture I have, it's just a regular metric socket, size on most Chrysler products is either 12mm or 14mm, just remove the bolts and slide the caliper off.
