My car quit running, I took it in to have it looked at and was told that it has lost compression to cylinder 1 and 2. What would be the most likely cause of this?

Hi there,

Have a wet compression test done, this is where a small amount of oil (5-6 squirts from an oil can, is injected into the cylinder, this will temporary help seal the rings, do the compression test, and if the comp come up, rings are faulty, if comps stay low or rise marginally, valves are a problem, some times with low compressions at adjoining cylinders the head gasket may be blown between the cylinders, this will give same indication as burnt valves.
