my car drives fine runs great but when i shut it off the key will not come out

Try wiggling it back and forth a little.
If the cylinder is worn out, a tumbler might get turned a little and jammed. Wiggling up and down might free it. I think you still have a cylinder built into the steering column and possibly a little key light with a black cover next to it. The dealer can remove the cylinder and build a new one from a kit so you can use the same key.
If you have a large clear plastic ring around the cylinder, holler back because those are quite easy to remove. The dealer will build you one of those too.
