Hey I am currently having the same issue on the 1984 dodge ramcharger that I am working on. I have replaced the plugs, wires, comp, and coil, When i replaced the coil I also messed with the pickup coil connections on the distributor this truck has a duel pick up coil one is Start and the other is run. Anyways after messing with the plugs and installing the new coil witch by the way i figured out was hooked up wrong in the first place. who ever replaced it before put the red and black/yellow wires on the + side of the coil and grounded the negative side to the block with a wire that had a capacitor on it. The book calls for the red on the + and the black/yellow to be hooked to the - side. The truck fired up and ran pretty good took it for a test drive and it died a couple of times figured it needed a little timing adjustment so a weekend later I went back to it with a timing light but before I could get the timing light hooked up it wouldn't start. No SPARK AGAIN! so after doing some searching in forums my next guess is that the pickup coils are bad. I checked the resistance of the pickup coils with a multi meter and according to the manual they are in spec but this is the only thing i can think that can be bad being that this truck has no blast resistor to check witch if you have searched forums you may have herd of So I am going to order a whole new distributor assembly from autozone for 50 bucks next payday. Hopefully this fixes the problem, have you figured yours out yet?
