replacing the timing belt on a 87 Dodge Ram

Im looking at buying a 1987 Dodge ram its a small truck. The owner says all it needs is a timing belt. on that info alone Im tryng to ballpark the repair cost of replacing the timing belt. Can any one give me a figure and what else should I be on the look out for?

Price really depends on some of the other things along the way. Drive belts? might also want to consider the water pump.If it is timing belt driven, I would definitely replace it. Hoses, Thermostat while you have it all drained. The belt would be under $50 for the part. Everything else, just take a list down to local parts house and ask.

Supose I took it in and all they did was replace the timing belt I bring. What am I looking at 1, 2 hrs of labor typically?

You probably wouldnt get the same labor rate you would if they supplied the belt. You wouldnt bring your own steak to a restaurant would you?
