I have recently bought a 2007 dodge ram 1500 with just over 50k miles on it. I have noticed that the oil pressure gauge deflects from just above the center value to just below when at idle. The gauge has always stayed around the center value and has not doped to the low end or exceeded to the high end. Is this normal? I thought that the gauge should always read the same when the engine in running no mater what the rpm output was.

Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge,if normal replace the oil pressure switch. If abnormal could mean oil pump and/or engine bearing.
