2004 Dodge Ram check gauges light

i have a 2004 ram when you start truck sometimes check gauges light stays on and oil pressure gauge doesnt go up shut truck off start again and everything is fine what causes this

Hi:
If you don't hear knocking or ticking when the gauge doesn't go up, the oil pump is working. I would start by checking the oil sending unit. It is near the oil filter and sends a signal to the gauge. Make sure the connection is clean and tight and it isn't leaking. If everything looks good, chances are it is bad.
