1999 Dodge Ram Dome Light between Sun Visors

I broke the dome light between the sun visors in my friends pickup. I went and bought the part from dodge but I cannot get the housing around the dome lights to pop down. It also hold like your car door opener etc. Its a big hard housing. I have clicked the buttons that loosen it but it still will not drop down. I'm afraid of forcing it. What do I need to do besides released the two buttons on the top. Thank you for your help, Mellie

REMOVAL Using a small flat blade, pry the left side (driver's side) of the dome lamp lens downward from dome lamp.

Allow the lens to hang down, this will disengage the right side of the lamp (passenger's side) from the headliner.

Pull the right side of the lamp down and slide the lamp to the right. Separate the lamp from the headliner. Disengage dome lamp wire connector from body wire harness. Separate dome lamp from vehicle. INSTALLATION Position dome lamp at headliner. Connect dome lamp wire connector to body wire harness. Position the left side of the lamp in the headliner opening and slide lamp to the left. Push the right side of the lamp in the headliner opening and push the lamp lens up into the lamp to secure.
