1999 Dodge Ram V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

My mechanic recommended that I reset the computer on my truck. I'm thinking that this may be something that I can do myself. Any advice?

You can do so by removing the battery cable for a min or so
why does he wants to reset the computer ?

He recommended it because I just had a tune-up and later replaced the fuel pump assembly; he noticed that it still runs a little "dogged". He thinks that by reseting the computer after the tune up and other minor repairs that the computer will reset the acceptable parameters for how the systems operate. What are your thoughts?

You can try it

Do You have check engine light on?
If so you need to get the codes before disconnecting the battery

but if flashing is needed you need to visit the dealer
so they can update computer software

No check engine light. I'm sorry...but what is "flashing"?

My computer was updated several years back. If I reset the computer will it lose the update?

( flashing ) I should ve used reprogramming
resetting the computer will not loose the update
it will loose stored data and then it will relearned it as you drive
