There is a splitter on the driver's side rear axle that sends brake lines to the left and right side wheels. There is also a black rubber hose (18" or so and about 1/2 dia.) that comes off the top of the splitter. It has a white plastic connector on the other end of it that looks like it's supposed to be plugged into something. I found this hose dragging on the ground when I pulled into the driveway. The clamp that held in place rusted through but I can't seem to find where this hose is supposed to connect to! There isn't any fluid leaking from it.

Are you sure the rubber hose isn't a breather from the differential? THat is what you described. THere shouldn't be any rubber brake hoses on the rear brakes.

Let me know.

It very could well be what you describe. I just know that one end is connected to the same "splitter" block for the brake lines. What is the breather hose used for exactly?
