1998 Dodge Ram struggles to shift gears

Transmission problem
1998 Dodge Ram V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 150k miles

RPM's are high before switching to first gear. Once at 45mph it runs fine. I changed out tran fluid, no metal shavings in pan. Also changed oil. Could this be a sensor?

Hi:
I believe there are two shift solenoids in the transmission (valve body). Yes they go bad, and yes I have seen the small wiring going to them break down. One problem, they are very hard to doagnose. If you decide to try replacing them, I recommend doing both and checking the wiring for continuniuty.
