1998 Dodge Ram resetting "ecm", "icm"

recent battery replacement but the idle upon start is very high, and "hunts", i think there is a procedure to reset the idle control function?

It probably takes a scan tool. Cheap at most auto parts stores. Sometimes you have to drive up to 50 miles to let the computer relearn. If it is cold outside I would think it will take longer to relearn than if it is hot outside. I'm no professional, but I've had other vehicles act funny for a few minutes/miles until the computer adjusted from a power disconnect.
