Generator light comes on intermittently. When it's on, there is no appreciable difference in battery voltage when checked with a volt meter from checking when the truck is not running.

When the light is off, of course, it shows about 14 volts, so I'm guessing this means the alternator is on it's "way out".

It's a 360 with AC. Just wondering if I have the tools to do this myself. Would the shop rate for R&R give me idea of how big a job this is? We're in a tough spot financially right now, so if I can do it, I'd like to save a few bucks... but don't want to get into a situation where I can't complete the job.. :>)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Blessings,
Mark

Mark:
First, take the truck to a nationally recognized parts store and have them check the alt. Most will do it for free.

Second, if it is determined to be bad, it isn't hard to do yourself. Let me know and I can walk you through the process.
