My Truck was submerged in clean fresh water for about 2 hours up to the rear view mirror during a recent levy erosion. When the water subsided I had it towed to my home. I replaced all engine fluids and the transmission fluid/filter. I charged the battery, and added fresh gasoline. When I went to try and turn it over all the interior and exterior electrical seemed to be in working condition, but when the key is turned to the start position, I here a loud "bump" but the starter motor does no engage. It sounds like the soleniod is engaging the motor but it is not turning the flywheel.
My question is: Is this the behavior of a fried computer OR is it possibly a short in the starter motor. Can I expect to get this truck running given the water? or is it a lost cause?

Hi there,

You may have a hydraulic lock due to water entering the engine via an open valve, pull the plugs and turn the motor over by hand first to expel any water, change the air filter and do a comp test, as you can damage a valve trying to start with this condition.
