truck ran fine for years then all the sudden trouble.
pick up idles crazy but once moving runs fine.
every menchanic in northwest missouri has work on
with no progress. had everything checked from timing
vaccum lines, new plug, cleaned throttle body, map sensor, no trouble codes appearing. truck smells like it is running rich. got truck back from shop and it has a stall in now with the crazy idle. if the truck is at an idle and in park if you gun on the gas the motor sounds good. this has been a problems for a year now. ready to junk the truck but its a nice older dodge.

Check the idle air control valve

Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this).
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)

Sometimes, what feels like a hesitation is actually ignition misfire rather than lean misfire. The causes of ignition misfire may include:

Dirty or worn spark plugs
Bad plug wires
Weak ignition coil
Wet plug wires
