1988 Dodge Ram Cold Weather problems

My Doge Ram runs perfect in weather over 60 deg F.
When the temp gets cold the truck will cold start and run well until it warms up. Then it chokes down and runs rich at idle, I can see black smoke out of the tailpipe. It is throttle body Fuel injection. It is like it is stuck in a cold start mode and then will not come out once the truck warms up. I at first thought coolant sensor problems but why will the truck run right when the weather is warm?

the problem with TBI engines is they arnt the best at the cold starting, the coolant temp sensor is probably the blame. when it warms up the temp sensor is telling the cpu the engine is warm causing it to lean out the mixture, but if its cold and the sensor is saying its warm, then it leans out the mixture and it wont run warm when first running cold.
