Engine Performance problem

When I punch the gas the the truck kinda feels like it wants to stall but does not stall. What could the problems be?
(NOTE) - I am not a master mechanic but can perform routine fixes and have been able to work through past problems with little difficulty. Would this be a job I can tackle with limited experience?
