How to test for trouble shooting no spark.
89 dodge 318 coils test off the car O K have 12 volts feeding the hallas effect switch in the engine wire harness. The procedure in the haynes manuel seems wrong for testing it,so I tried my halls eff switch on another 318 it is O K. One time when the harness was unplugged to test for 12v at the engine WIRE harness plug it had 12v key on(test light), untill you hit the starter then in lost the voltage (test light), and had a a barley visible light pulse? Every time you turned the key off it did the same, test light on until you hit the starter, that was yesterday,, Today the light does not go out after hitting the starter switch. I am not a novice I have 30 years of working as a mechanic professionally. I stopped working some 20 years ago so I am not up to speed in the newer computer drive technology. And my strong suit was Ford I am looking for someone who has experience in the Mopar
Line I feel that this is more of a related Mopar problem than general mechanic, I have read on the net of electrical problems as far as conections, in line fuses, and broken wires.

With intermittent power problems on Dodges/Jeeps, go to the ASD (auto-shutdown relay) They have problems wit them and they can cause the no start problem , due to the fact they power up the ecm as well
