Transmission problem
2002 Dodge Neon Two Wheel Drive Automatic 66545 miles

Ive had my car just 4 months my neon is driving me up the wall..i've went to 2 different mech to rebuild my transmission ..which i have no idea what that is...the problem started when my car would not move even tho its in drive it just stalls the car does not shut off tho. Also i notice when i shift gear the car jumps alittle..when i drive i feel it changes gear too.After paying $3400 my problem is still not fixed. after they "fixed"my car..i eventually had to go back 3 days later when the transmission light went on again. they said my torque converter was burnt and they asked for $300 more...after that i returned again 2 times because my car started to make screaching noises when i stepped on the gas to accelerate and then again it stalled even tho in drive..im upset do u think i should get rid of the car? i know i wont get even near to what i payed and put in to fix it.

I am assuming for $3400.00 you had a new or rebuilt transmission installed. No mechanic in his right mind would install a rebuilt trans. without a new convertor. I don't know how long it's been since you had this done, but it sounds like a warranty issue to me. The screeching sound you're hearing is probably coming from the convertor.

hi i dont know if u received this reply earlier...i took to a new mech that says the reason i still feel a kicking back is becuase it may have the wrong oil in transmission...it may have dektron? and it needs apr plus since its thinner...the cylanoid kicks it backs making car feel like that..he sed i shud take it back to original mech..i dont know if they will want to charge for something that should have been done right in the first place....do u think a tune up will help as well

Your mechanic's diagnosis makes sense. I would sure check with your former mechanic about changing the fluid for free. The worse that can happen is he'll say "no", but I doubt it. A tune up is always a good investment, especially if you haven't had one for a while. Thank's for the response and keep me posted, Jim.
