2000 Dodge Neon crankshaft damper pulley

Reinstall the center bolt back in and turn it two to three turn making sure its loose and place the puller back
and try making sure when pulley start to move not to touch the center bolt and when it does you have to loosen the center bolt again and again until its all out

I got the pulley off. It is a Tight Press Fit ! This is due to it NOT Having a Keyway. I assume it doesnt matter exactly where 360 degrees when I re-install it. Timing is Not adjustable as is the trend...Thats the computers job. Anyway the Key to getting this pulley off is to get A SPECIFIC Crankshaft Damper Pulley Puller that is a 3 Jaw Type And has several different length forcing pushrods. These are just like OHV Pushrods except No oil Hole. I used the longer 4" one to pull the pulley almost all the way off then I ran out of length. OTC Has Updated their set to include about 5 pushrods. The other sets have 3... The Puller costs about $75 to $100...OR Rent it from your local auto parts store...It took 3 stores to find one... The Tool Part #s Are...KD 41750...AP 7822(Astro Pneumatic)...OEM 21739 (Auto Zone)...And The Best For Last...OTC 6667 Which Replaces their Older OTC 6267, This one has only 3 pushrods like the other brands I listed previous... For the guy that broke his pulley... Get a Better puller and grab onto the center of the hub tight. Either weld the broken pulley enuf to get a good bite or break the outer ring off and Re-grab the center... He needs a NEW pulley Anyway... Make sure to use the Hardened pushrod (Pin) that comes in the kit or a grade 8 or 10 3/8or10mm bolt...I tried a 4-1/2" piece of 3/8 dowel with a nut welded on the end to center my 3 jaw puller and ONLY Bent the soft Dowel..!
