recently changed transmission with one i got from a salvage yard. the transmission came with a seven day warranty. from the time i drove it it would not shift into second gear untill it reached about 45 mph. after that it shifted fine. the mechanics which changed the transmission out said the trans. was no good. the person i bought it from said it was just something minor, he thought he could drive it out and it would eventually shift right or he could add some additives. i paid 250 for the transmission and 200 to have it installed. the person i bought it from was not the person that that intalled it. is it possible that a valve is sticking or is there more problems with it not shifting right?

Find out from the person who installed it. What type of transmission fluid he used in that transmission. If it is not Mopar or ATF+4, you have wrong fluid.

You may also need to replace the output speed sensor and/or the underdrive solenoid.
