Engine Performance problem
2007 Dodge Magnum 6 cyl Automatic 18600 miles

When you car in not in motion (i.e. at a stop light) or while the car is in drive; should the RPM idle be on zero? My cars RPM idle is always at one, I want to know beacuse I just bought the car and I can take it back within 30 days if I think there is a problem.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sounds like it's working properly. "1" means the engine is running at 1000 rpm, or revolutions per minute. 800 rpm is typical for an engine that is idling. On the highway, it should read between 2000 and 3000 rpm. "0" means the engine stalled and is not running. It does not mean the car is standing still.
