Just bought an Intrepid with 80K and drove like a dream for a couple weeks, then it turned cold here. Driving along and noticed that around 80 kph a very high pitched whining noise began. If i let the acceleration off or sped up the noise would diminish or disappear. Weather warmed up, no noise. Weather got cold again today and noise returned. This time when noise started I slipped transmission into neutral and maintained rph...noise immediately disappeared. Please tell me I"m not one of those stuck with an "oil sludge" problematic engine and should be running scared at this point. :cry:
