Hi everyone, I need your help. I recently replaced my upper transmission coolant line. Well, before I replaced the line two codes came up P0840 and P0700. I believe because of the fluid leak, my transmission fluid sensor went out. When I'm driving my car at least a couple of miles my engine light comes on. When I come to a stop around ten to five miles per hour, I fill a big jolt, that seems to come from my transmission, it kind of feels like the solenoid is stuck. So, I turn my car off once I'm stop to reset the system. Well i hooked up my OBD2 reader and got codes P0700 and P0840. Well, P0840 reads transmission fluid sensor. What do you all think can you please give me suggestions. The transmission coolant line leak has to be the culperate of this matter. Please help.

Yes, the fluid is full. I did notice while changing the transmission coolant line there was tiny pieces of medal.

That's not a good sign. May want to drop the pan and change the filter. May be too late.

Strangley, Mitchell on demand isn't showing anything for a po840 on this car :?

Happy Labor Day, Service Writer. Well, yes it showed a P0840. Is this the transmission fluid sensor? Anothe rcode also came up about two time in this month, a P1776, is this the solenoid, but its mainly been P0700 and P0840. Thanks for your help (Service Writer). As a kid I always had a passion for working on cars.I've learned alot from watching my Dad and grandfather.Your input is very much appreciated.

Not a problem to help, just hope I can shed some sort of light on this. The po700 is just the pcm telling you there are codes for TCM in the PCM. I have no Idea on the po840. The p1776 has a wide variety of causes, but I'm thinking its gonna be tough without a scanner to fully explore and diagnose this.

Some of the things that I would be concerned about are, first if the fluid had dropped too low, there may be damage done that is not reversible, Two, the metal particles aren't a good sign....but not necessarily a bad one. If the filter hasn't been changed in the last 30,000 I would do this once the solution to the codes are resolved. Third you must use ATF + 3 or ATF +4 fluids only. I'm not familiar with any transmission fluid level sensors.

Hey, how's it going service writer? Well, i've been real busy at work.I just worked three double shift in a row. I need to get to a tranny shop so I could get it scanned. I will let you know once I find out. Thanks again. Keep those motors going.
