2002 Dodge Intrepid hard to start

car is hard to start almost seems like it is flooded.have to push gas pedal about have down for few seconds to get it started.after it starts it smells like gas as it was flooded.someone told me to change the cam postion sensor is this right?or is it something else?no check engine light does not come on.

Actually, I doubt it has anything to do with the cam sensor. I feel that the ambient temp sensor may be bad. It tells the computer the outside temp and the coolant temp. From that, the computer determines how rich to make the fuel / air mixture. If it thinks it's really cold, lets say -20 degrees F, it will dump the fuel to the engine. WHen you push the throttle 1/2 way down, it allows more air to get to the engine and therefore it starts.

I have to ask, has the check engine light come on?
