driving and steam coming from under hood, opened hood and some part at front of motor top had come off and water was evaporating from it

Can you take a pic and send it? That would make it a lot easier unless you can describe more.

Does the radiator top hose go to it? Is it the radiator – the radiator overflow –

There are many things…a pic would be great.
