When driving, a loud howling noise is noted from the front end which seems to mostly come from the drivers side. It starts as a whump whump whump noise when driving slow, then increases to a loud howl the faster I go. The noise sounds like tires howling, but I just got brand new tires and it continued as before. There is not a discernable vibration in the steering wheel or a significant change in performance of the car, just the noise, which seems to be getting worse over time. What could be the possible causes of this noise?

That's your wheel bearing/hub. If you think you can tackle this job yourself, let me know and I'll walk you through it. But if you haven't done this before, I don't recommend it.

Take it to a shop, and if you need some advise or second opinion, let me know and I'll help.
