The transmission is leaking where the hose connects to a metal line. it is fastened with a crimped connection.
Can I redo this connection another way or do I have to get a new line?

It is best to replace the hose, both, as they are the single most common reason that this transmission failed, in the hundreds I have repaired for leaks. Why 97 was so bad for heat problems, I'm not quite sure, but a 97 was better than earlier models. If its a bad leak, you can cut, flare the metal line and re-connect, or use double clamps if flaring is unavailable to you. At least to get you in to get a new one or better, new pair. The cooler should be tested and cleaned every 36,000 miles. ok There is no pressure through the cooler in P position. Always use neutral to rev up and cool the trans in hot weather or load situations. Please be careful, ok Common problem.
