Electrical problem
1994 Dodge Intrepid 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Hello, I am working on a friends "94 Intrepid that will not start. It turns over but seems to have a fuel issue. I have replaced the Auto Shut down relay, the fuel pump relay and the fuel pump itself. There is power at the pump connection but the pump is not running. Wondering what else it could be. Thanks for the help.

hi, engine cranking, if dark green wire with black tracer at the pump connector has good voltage and no pump action, either a faulty pump or problem with the ground circuit, black wire with tan tracer.

Did you check for any possible trouble codes?

I did not check for trouble codes. It is my understanding that the car has sat for a while but did drive before being parked.

My multimeter is only registering a little over 6 volts at the pump connection. I assume it should be 12 volts. Any help on that one.

I appreciate your input.

Did you check voltage with fuel pump connector, unplugged? Engine cranking, if you were on the proper wire, I'd think it should be a little more? Take reading across the battery posts, engine cranking, if reading is lower han 10 volts, maybe 9.5. I'd get the battery charged. Compare that reading with pump connector, engine cranking. The readings should be close.

Hello again, I checked the voltage with the key on as the repair manual explains. The battery is good. I cannot hear the pump run at all. The fuel rail only has a tiny amount of fuel that drips out when the schrader valve is pushed. Would a clogged fuel filter cause any of the problems?

Yeah the filter could cause problems, but, your voltage reading is too low.
