2003 Durango w/ 4.7L w/ 55K. My airbag light came on and I was told it was the clock spring, which I had replaced. The light came on again in ~ 4 mths and was replaced for free. Its been 1 year and again the light is coming on intermittently. 1) If the light comes on, is it always the clock spring? 2) If so, is it possible that contact surfaces are wearing and the unit isn't actually bad? I don't want to have it replaced if its a matter of assuring the mating surfaces are true.

Hello and thanks for donating

When the SRS (red airbag lamp) comes on in the instrument panel and remains on, it indicates that the vehicle's computer has detected a problem with the SRS. The only way to reset the light is to scan the SRS with the proper diagnostic scan tools to retreive and clear the stored trouble codes, and to fix the issue at hand. The only alternative would be removing the instrument cluster to gain access to and remove the little bulb that lights up the SRS symbol.

Interior problem
2001 Dodge Durango Four Wheel Drive Automatic

The airbag light comes on intermittently when driving the Durango. Is this a problem with the airbag or in the dashboard lights? How do I fix it?

You need to have the computer scanned to see if it is seeing a problem with the SRS system. If there is a problem, the system wont work properly in the event of an accident

Hi:
It sounds like a bad sensor. Have the vehicle scanned for trouble codes at a nationally recognized parts store. Most do it for free and it should let you know what is what is wrong.
